As you are about to see in our upcoming February 2014 print edition, we spoke with Los Angeles-based painter, F. Scott Hess, about his new works on display at Koplin Del Rio Gallery in Culver City beginning January 11, 2014. “Shattered” will include new large format narrative paintings and a selection of recent work from the studio. Today, we gathered some of those highly detailed paintings, plus some classics, to show you.

“Shattered” is the starting point for an exciting series of Hess shows in Southern California this coming year. A two-part “F. Scott Hess Retrospective,” will be running concurrently at Cal State Fullerton’s Begovich Gallery (opening January 25) and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery (opening January 30). Both shows are being curated by Mike McGee, Director of the Begovich Gallery, as well as a Professor in the art department at the University. Then, in July, the much-anticipated “Paternal Suit” exhibition comes to the Long Beach Museum of Art.
