Brazilian photographer and journalist Renato Stockler gives us virtually abstracted aerial views of giant soccer fields among the favelas in the outskirts of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The series titled “Terrão de Cima”, documents the rugged fields of Stockler’s home, which are fast disappearing due to land occupation. Stockler says of the project, “These fields show the urgency for public and communal places to practice sports, a portrait of those who fights for leisure in a city as Sao Paulo. Colored and powerful in face of the greyish scenario, these fields are a solid basis of soccer’s spirit in Brasil.”
